A policeman carries a BolaWrap device on his hip belt. Roughly the size of a large TV remote, it has an aiming laser; when the trigger is pressed, the unit shoots out a kevlar "bolo string" at high velocity, which literally wraps up a person's legs or arms-and-chest in an instant.
